How To Refill at a Pop-Up

Say goodbye to single-use plastics and hello to a new way to shop for your favorite personal care and household care products!

At Summit Sustainable Goods, we have a variety of items available for refill. But what does refilling actually require, and how can you shop our refills at local pop-ups around town?

What Are Refills?

Refills are liquid, powder, or other bulk products that you can purchase from us in any amount you’d like. Many folks are most familiar with refill shopping through foods in the bulk aisles at large grocers like Whole Foods and Sprouts. At Summit, we partner with US-based companies to supply large quantities of locally-sourced household care and personal care items - such as liquid shampoo, bath salts, or all-purpose cleaners, and then provide these to you by the ounce rather than as a pre-packaged quantity. This means that you can choose the container you’d like your product in - whether that be a soap dispenser you already own or a free pre-loved and sanitized jar provided by us at Summit. You’re also in the driver’s seat for exactly how much of each product you want. This allows you more control over your purchase and helps reduce single-use plastics through filling pre-loved or reusable containers.

How Refilling Works

Interested in trying out our refill station at a local pop-up? We’re so excited to serve you! Find out where we’ll be around town and when we’ll have our refill station with us, and then follow these simple steps below.

  1. Choose your clean container you’d like filled, or plan to grab one of our free sanitized options at our pop-up.

  2. Choose your product. We have a variety of refill options, including household care and personal care products from small businesses across Colorado and beyond.

  3. Weigh your empty container. We have scales provided at our pop-ups, and are happy to assist with this!

  4. Fill up your container from our bulk pump bottles or by using our scoops.

  5. Re-weigh your now-filled container. We’ll calculate the ounces of product you’ve filled up on, so you don’t pay for any of the container weight.

  6. We’ll ring you up, and you’re all set!

Why Refill at Pop-Ups

Our pop-up shops have been held all through the Denver-metro region, from up north in Arvada to south in Centennial. By refilling with us, you’re avoiding unnecessary shipping costs, accessing the products you need immediately, and are contributing toward a cleaner planet and lessening your waste! We source our products as locally as possible, so you’re helping support multiple small businesses through your purchase at Summit Sustainable Goods. Plus, we love engaging with our wonderful customers in-person and making real connections. For more information on our pop-ups, visit our “Find Us” tab on our website.

Refills are a great way to shop your everyday essentials such as liquid soaps, shampoo, and household cleaners without adding to landfill. Although most plastic bottles claim to be recyclable, plastic has become so abundant in our world that there is no longer a high demand for post-recycled plastic, which means a startling amount of plastic that we put in our curbside recycling bins does not end up being recycled. Instead, much of the plastic we consume in our homes ends up incinerated or clogging up landfills - or even polluting our waterways. By refilling with us, you’re helping reduce the production of single-use containers by large companies and simultaneously keeping our natural environment and water cleaner and healthier.
