Shampoo bars have been growing in popularity as we learn more about the harmful effects of many contaminants in traditional liquid shampoos lining the shelves of the personal care aisle, as well as the danger of plastic bottles clogging landfills and waterways. But what about conditioner, the sidekick of shampoo? Thanks to local businesses who have created some amazing sustainable products, we now have conditioner bars!
What are Conditioner Bars?
Conditioner bars are high-quality conditioner formulas that are designed to smooth, detangle, and nourish hair - but they’re packed into a concentrated bar form. Our conditioner bars, manufactured locally in Golden, Colorado by Spinster Sisters, are designed with clean ingredients that do the job of traditional store-bought conditioners - without the plastic bottle.
Why Make the Switch?
Did you know that most plastic does not end up being recycled? Due to a lack of demand in post-recycled plastics, most plastic that we toss in our recycle bins ends up in landfills anyway, or gets incinerated - releasing noxious chemicals into our atmosphere. Gross. Conditioner bars are a simple way to care for the planet while caring for your hair. Our conditioner bars contain no parabens, phthalates, or sulfates; ingredients commonly found in traditional liquid conditioners that have been flagged for dangerous impacts to human and environmental health.
Conditioner bars are simple to use and great for frequent travelers. You can use it in your shower for months - one bar is designed to last at least 2-3 bottles of liquid conditioner. You can even cut a chunk off your bar and bring along with you in a carry-on for easy weekend travel toiletries. (We did this on a recent trip to Europe and it was a dream!)
But Wait - How Do You Use a Conditioner Bar?
After shampooing thoroughly (check out our solid shampoo bar options or our liquid shampoo refills), just grab your conditioner bar, slide it over the length of your hair, avoiding the scalp. Then rinse clean and voila! You’ve got beautifully conditioned hair without relying on a single-use plastic bottle.
As an added bonus (as if you needed another one), our conditioner bars are manufactured locally in Golden, Colorado through a small woman-owned and B-Corps certified business. Pretty awesome, if you ask us.
